Christine's Quirks

Christine just got tagged by Kelley to list 6 quirky things about herself! This tagging thing is a fun game of sorts that is totally new to us. Here are some things that come to mind…

1) I really don't like waking up to an alarm clock. My attitude totally changes on days when I'm able to wake up naturally.

2) Having nice nails is important to me (I think I get this from my mom). If my nail is chipped I'll obsess over it and not be able to focus on anything else until I get it fixed.

3) Half-used toiletries really bug me. I get a great sense of satisfaction when I get to put out a new bottle of shampoo or hand soap, etc.

4) I love the concept of jewelry but I hate the physical feeling of wearing it. It's the first thing I take off every day when I come home from work...

5) I feel extremely claustrophobic when I sit in the backseat of 2-door cars

6) My passion at work is working on Health & Wellness snacks, yet I still must eat at Chick-Fil-A at least 2x per week

Now it's our turn to "tag" someone. We'll tag Janelle and Gretchen...

Dinner with the Sheas

Last night we had a really fun dinner with Danielle, Erol, Mina and Tom. Erol makes amazing bleu cheese buffalo burgers and Dana made a pear gorgonzola salad that was soooo good. Afterwards we went to a bar in Greenville to hear one of the bands play who is trying to get into Austin City Limits. It was a blast! We've never really hung out in the Lower Greenville area but the crowd is very different from what I had expected (more like us but younger and much less grungy than I had thought) and the bars look really fun. The band was great! Danielle knew one of the musicians in the band because he's also a Consultant at Deloitte. You would NEVER have guessed that if you had just seen the band - which was cool. It was fairly hard/loud rock but they had a female violinist as well who was rocking out. I think that was my favorite part! It made me wish I hadn't given up violin in the 3rd grade : )

A weekend away...

This weekend we are relaxing at a lakeside resort 3 hours west of Dallas. The resort is called "The Cliffs" and it overlooks Possum Kingdom lake. (Nice name, right?) Christine has a work event here next week (to work on big Innovation ideas for 2010) so we just decided to come out early and unwind from our crazy work schedules of late. Due to the rain, there really isn't much to do here except read by the lake, eat a lot and workout at the fitness center/spa so that is just perfect.
Today we're heading over to Christine's Vice President's nearby lakehouse for a day of water sports and fun. It will be a good diversion since we're currently sitting at an outdoor cafe overlooking a beautiful late... doing work using a wireless internet connection.

Creative Survey

I think we need a cute name for our blog. This seems to be the trend with our creative friends. What should we call it?

Catching Up

2 weekends in a row where I have no pictures to show! I am slacking on the blog, but promise to pick it back up. This past weekend we took it easy again, but had a few nice dinners with good friends to catch up.

Friday we met Cayce & John and Houstons. I haven't eaten at a Houstons in years but it was a nice blast to the past and reminded me of good times in Atlanta and New York City. Saturday we went to Coal Vines with Stephanie and Ryan (I LOVE their pizza) and then we fed the homeless at a men's shelter. Sunday we cooked dinner at Michael and Anissa's and watched the Olympics. Dana made more of his molten chocolate cakes. They're so good - but too good. If he keeps making them I'm going to gain 10 lbs!

Thought of the Day

In a world with so much hurt and despair, why have you and I been blessed with so much? Definitely something to think about...

Summer Brunch

We really love having people over for brunch! Dana's such an amazing breakfast chef and it's such a nice way to get in some quality time with friends. I can't believe how quickly the Garner and Loredo twins are growing up... They're so precious.

Taking it easy...

After a really busy weekend last weekend, this weekend swung to the other end of the spectrum and was remarkably low-key. Dana had a Ryder Cup happy hour Friday night to celebrate the end of his F-L summer golf tournament. Saturday we were supposed to be on a home tour for the F-L interns so we cleaned our house and waited and waited and waited... and were stood up. We still haven't figured out what happened! Saturday night we grabbed pizza at our FAVORITE pizza place (Fireside Pies) with Nicole & Stan. I tried a new pizza (Pepperoni with Truffle Oil) and after a year of only eating Balsamic Chicken, I think I have a new favorite! Today we hosted a yummy brunch for the Garners, Hottingers and Loredos. Dana made his spectacular french toast and I just enjoyed catching up with everyone and all of their little ones.
